We accept that our business activities have an impact on the environment. We undertake to actively reduce our carbon emissions and work towards a carbon neutral footprint through offsetting. We aim to continually reduce our environmental impact and will measure and demonstrate achievements.

Action Plan

Local

• To work in partnership with Braintree fire station and Braintree Service Delivery personnel to reduce energy consumption via agreed personal impact policies
• To work in partnership with Service Workshops personnel to reduce energy consumption via agreed personal impact policies
• To explore the possibility of providing passive infra red lighting and water flush systems at our training facility
• Personnel to help reduce their individual emissions

County

• Support Essex County Fire and Rescue Service (ECFRS) recycling schemes
• To support for renewable energy resources at ECFRS stations
• Establish a monitoring and compliance relationship with the ECFRS Environmental officer

National

• We aim to sponsor carbon offset schemes that support educating children about environmental issues, as we feel this is the most effective way our offsetting can make a difference
• Form partnerships with carbon reduction trusts and renewable technology companies to promote carbon reduction and offset schemes via our public interface and marketing activities

Business

• To apply procurement policies and ensure purchasing of products from renewable / sustainable and/ or eco-friendly sources.
• To engage with carbon reduction trusts to promote training of environment impact and carbon reduction for business managers
• To identify, reduce and/or eliminate business activities that increase carbon emission reduction

We will adopt recognised methodology utilising a Plan-Do-Check-Act philosophy to implement this action plan.
