Very Small Businesses and Small to Medium Size Business and
Organisations (1-74 employees)
Your organisation will need to produce an up to date fire risk assessment,
together with significant findings and evidence that remedial actions
have been implemented
Fire risk assessment
- Firesmart fire risk assessment plus evidence of implementation of
remedial action or
- Fire Safe Express fire risk assessment plus evidence of implementation
of remedial action or
- Any other suitable and sufficient Fire Risk Assessment plus evidence
of implementation of remedial action
Primary fire safety / business continuity evidence
- Fire training carried out by Essex County Fire and Rescue Training
Services or
- Fire training carried out by the Fire Service Safety Partnership
or
- Other Fire training carried out by another Fire Service training
unit
- Electronically recorded fire maintenance records
- Businesssmart on-line continuity tool plus evidence that remedial
action has been implemented. Evidence for security measures will also
be taken from this assessment
- Electronic verification of at least two suppliers and / or distributors
that they have fire risk assessment in place, carry out regular staff
fire training, carry out regular fire drills and have up to date maintenance
records
Community safety evidence
- Evidence demonstrating that the organisation promotes home fire
safety to its staff ( This could be an electronic fire safety notice
/ e-learning or evidence such as provision of smoke detectors etc
for the home)
Or
- Electronic evidence of a partnership or works with a local fire
station or fire service promoting community fire safety or assisting
vulnerable persons or groups.
Submitting or approval of evidence
Evidence from very small businesses - VSBs (1-10 employees) or small
medium size businesses SMBs (11-74 employees) can be submitted electronically
to phil.johnson@essex-fire.gov.uk

We may contact you for further evidence or for clarification of details
of your submission.
After verification any written evidence sent to us will be returned
by recorded delivery. A copy of your cover sheet will be returned to
you. Electronic evidence sent to us will be deleted permanently.
